she could sense it all. the hate, the annoyance, the many questions that ran around in her
mind. clarke would probably never forgive katniss as long as she doesn’t know about prim,
she feels like she still knows her enough that when and if katniss tells her about her illegal
sister ; things may change. but for now katniss had to find a way to deal with this
uncomfortable feelings, she deserved every painful second. katniss followed clarke’s finger
as she pointed towards the mountain and suddenly the idea of clarke hating her seemed
useless and time wasting.

‘ we landed in the wrong place? ’
her tone completely change. there was no kindess nor softness where there was before
as she tried to get any form of clarke’s attention and trust. now her voice was low,
confused and with a hint of anger. not a clarke but at the ark, they made sure everything
they did was so perfect - to follow every rule. but they couldn’t get the kids to where
they were suppose to be. it was when clarke spoke again katniss turned her attention to
her.
she knew clarke was going to try and get to the mountain, it wasn’t in herself to leave it
to someone else. clarke had already taken the lives of the 100 here on to her shoulders.
she could tell from the lack of eye contact and the dull tone that clarke didn’t want
katniss coming with her. but it wasn’t in katniss to stay either, she wasn’t going to
leave clarke again, not down here.
‘ if you’re going to the mountain i’m coming too. ’

she stops in her tracks, hearing katniss’ anger practically spilling out of her. they had landed in the wrong place. but there was no use being angry about it too long. clarke didn’t have a choice but to try to convince the others to go. great. though the education on the ark was decent, she had not learned anything about how to convince 99 other convicted felons to go on a walk. she’ll be damned before she asks anybody for help— especially not katniss, so she stalks off, ignoring katniss till she proclaims her intention to go to the mountain.
a small bit of her relaxes with relief. 98 more to go. in truth, though she wasn’t fond of anyone here, least of all katniss or wells, it was a comfort to know that katniss had enough common sense to know they couldn’t NOT go to mount weather. she turns on her heel, her back to the drop ship.

‘ good. let’s hope everyone else agrees with you. ‘

she looked so different from when they last spoke to each other, the day clarke was ripped
away and thrown in to jail for what she knew. how regretted the way she had treated her friend
from the days prior. she could have kept prim and secret and still kept her friendship with
clarke, couldn’t she? if she tried hard enough, if she cared even more she was sure their had
to be a way. there were days when things got too much, days when she wished she had
clarke. but her pride over took her and she thought she could take care of prim and her
mother all on her own, now look where she was.

‘ —————– i stole food. ’
for the better part that was the main reason as to why she was arrested but it wasn’t the
whole story. she wasn’t ready to tell her that. not right now when there was so much noise
around them. there were apologise to be said, truths to be spoke, a crack friendship to
mend but right now katniss could barely look at her. there was an overwhelming feeling of
shame riddling threw her bones but maybe that was just the after shock of what just
happened.
noticing the map in her hand she felt no shock or confusion that clarke was already trying
to short things out, to find out where they were and wha t was the next step. she always
wore the pants in their friendship, bossed katniss around ( she didn’t mind it ) in whatever
task they were doing. unsubconsciously katniss was already placing clarke as the leader,
at least her leader.
‘ does the map lead to where the supplies are? ’

clarke’s frown etched deeper on her face. why would she steal food ? she and her mother had never had any problems before. BEFORE. that was before, clarke. you don’t know her now. it’s been 7 years. you’re different. and so is she. 7 years. it’d been 7 years after they stopped talking. after she had stopped talking to her. clarke remembers trying to comfort her after her father’s death, reaching out, giving some food to katniss’ mother, when katniss herself wouldn’t take it. and then she remembers katniss telling her to get out, yelling at her. she remembers crying to her mother, and punching wells in the shoulder when he asked her if it was clarke’s fault. he learned not to ask about katniss again. she remembers it all.

she keeps her face void of emotion and purses her lips. she focuses her attention to the map in question. there was a huge forest between them and their next meal. all of them just had to trek to mount weather and get supplies. it didn’t seem hard. she eyes the dozens of teenagers celebrating around them. emphasis on seem. she turns to the direction of the mountain.
‘ yeah, it does. ’ she gestures at the mountain. ‘ —problem is how to get there.’
seeing as how she had answered katniss’s question, clarke turns back to the crowd, with every intention of searching the dropship for supplies. she only prays to whatever god that neither katniss or wells follow her. ( she needs to find a way to the mountain. she does not need an emotional talk with either of them. )
‘———-you probably shouldn’t stray too far, though. stay near the dropship. but whatever.’

prim wasn’t here, she wasn’t one of the hundred, which meant she was still locked away in the
cell in the ark for a crime she couldn’t help. for being B O R N. katniss didn’t know if she was
relieved or destroyed that prim wasn’t with her on earth, if this place was toxic then prim would
live. in four years she would be 18 and she would have her trial but they couldn’t float a
innocent child for living could they? there was no point in worrying about something that was
happening a million, billion miles away. although katniss would spend every waking second
thinking of her sister ; there was nothing she could do.
removing her eyes from the sky she darted around the area where they had landed, she looked
at th e people she would be stuck with but it seemed her eyes could only make out one person
clearly. C L A R K E. the two had such good history but a bad ending, it was nothing none of
them could have stopped. katniss knew clarke must have told someone about what their
dads were planning – katniss didn’t so that only left clarke . but katniss didn’t blame her,
who ever clarke told she would have told because she trusted. katniss blamed thelonious,
she blamed the council. but it was the birth of prim that tore the two apart. katniss lost trust
in clarke and soon prim became more important to her then clarke did.

but now they were stuck down here, meeting again would be inevitable and truth be told.
katniss missed her friend. pushing forward and heading straight for clarke , although her gut
was telling her to walk the other way, she needed to speak to her.
‘ —————- clarke? ’
she pretended like she had only just seen her, like she was a figment in the corner of her eye.
it was then she realised clarke probably didn’t even know katniss got arrested, she still
knew nothing about prim nor that her mother got floated. this convocation was long over due.

clarke had been dreaming about the earth since she was a child. nothing she’d ever imagined was anything close to the real thing. it was all so green, and A L I V E. despite the company, and the circumstances that brought them here, clarke found that she was actually enjoying herself. but it doesn’t last. she is snapped out of her reverie by the reality of it all. 100 kids on the ground. 1 broken dropship, and 0 supplies. they needed to find mount weather. she surges through the the forest, the map in hand, thinking that mount weather had to be near, somewhere, if they had any chance of surviving.
she scans her immediate surroundings, and a feeling of fear ripples through her, but she brushes it aside. find mount weather first, mental breakdown later. it turns out the two happen not so far apart. mount weather is m i l e s away. and she’s not so sure that 99 othercriminalskids are quite so easy to convince to take the journey. then again, she’ssorta kinda alwaysbeen an optimist. she stalks back to the dropship, until she hears her name. now, who had said it, that was a whole other thing. K A T N I S S. her feet come to a stop, and she subconsciously grips the map harder. flashes of l a u g h t e r, and dark hair come to her mind, but so does confusion, and anger. her lips press into a hard line.

❛————–katniss. ❜
surprise tints her voice, and a million thoughts, questions raced across her mind, barely able to keep them from spilling from her lips. her brows knit together.
❛ so, you’re a criminal. ❜
she is not a hero. but she’d gladly be called a villain if it means protecting her people.
